Ethereum Token Standards: Understanding ERC-20 and Beyond
No Official Ethereum Support, No New Tokens
It's important to note that Ethereum itself does not offer official support for any specific token or wallet. There is also no provision for the creation of new tokens by Ethereum.
Ethereum Request for Comments 20 (ERC-20)
The ERC-20 standard, proposed by Fabian Vogelsteller in 2015, is a widely adopted technical specification for Ethereum tokens. It defines a set of common rules and functions that allow tokens to interact with wallets and exchanges.
Popular Ethereum Token Standards
In addition to ERC-20, there are other popular token standards on Ethereum, including:
- ERC-721 (Non-Fungible Tokens)
- ERC-1155 (Semi-Fungible Tokens)
- ERC-223 (Transferable Tokens)
Beware of Token Scams
Never share your wallet seed phrase with anyone. Scammers may try to trick you into giving them this information, which would allow them to steal your tokens.
