Nerlens Noel Traded to Detroit Pistons
Former Sacramento Kings Center Moved for Draft Rights
Exchange Includes Alec Burks, Nikola Radičević, and Protected 2025 Draft Pick
On July 11, 2022, Nerlens Noel, alongside Alec Burks, was traded from the Sacramento Kings to the Detroit Pistons. In exchange, the Kings acquired the draft rights to Nikola Radičević and a protected 2025 NBA Draft pick.
Noel, a 6'11" center, was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans with the 6th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He has spent time with several teams throughout his career, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Kings.
In 71 games for the Kings last season, Noel averaged 9.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 63.4% from the field. He provides a strong defensive presence and rebounding ability, and his departure creates an opening in the Kings' frontcourt.
The Pistons, who are rebuilding under new head coach Dwane Casey, will hope that Noel can provide a veteran presence and bolster their defense. Radičević, a 19-year-old Serbian forward, is considered a promising prospect and could develop into a valuable contributor for the Kings in the future.
